THERE WAS A COUNTRY ; A REFLECTION ON THE PRESENT AND PAST GOVERNMENT. BY IYKE OKWU

THERE WAS A COUNTRY...

This is a tale told by a seasoned Nigerian author. Prof. CHINUA ACHEBE (RIP). To this premise,  I am writing a piece to whoever that cares to read.

It's a big problem considering  the hardship  (we) the citizens of Nigeria are facing right now, but it beats my imagination that no body is saying anything or trying to do anything about it. Things are going worse everyday and to this effect, people are losing their jobs. The MD of a company will just wake up one morning and tell the staff,
             "We are sorry, we can no longer cater for the services of our staff any more because there's no money to service the salaries any more, this is due to the nature of the economy. We are sorry for the inconvenience(s) this may cause."

The country is dying! I repeat, the country is dying!  Economy is failing, people are losing their jobs, people are suffering! This thing pains me deep into my marrows because the government isn't seeing the pains of the teeming populace.
  However, l wish to call to the memory of every Nigerian that ;

***There was a country where the economy was the best in Africa.

***There was a country where salaries were paid and people retained their jobs.

***There was a country where a common man could afford food very cheap and almost freely.

***There was a country where the government catered for the welfare of its citizens.

Where have those days gone to? Let's just admit, that this government has failed us.
I speak like a wounded lion! This suffering is too much.

IT IS A BIG FOOL THAT WILL SAY THIS GOVERNMENT IS DOING WELL. I REPEAT IT IS A BIG FOOL THAT WILL SAY THE GOVERNMENT AT THE CENTRE IS WORKING.
